Hey YPN members, Madison from marketing here! For those of you who don’t quite know me yet, here’s a little about me ¦ I am a proud born and raised Northern Nevadan from Washoe Valley. I grew up barrel racing and have an immense love for animals. I have 2 dogs that keep me quite busy, especially between their consistent energy and their constant shedding. (That’s a never ending battle!) And if I could, I would live right smack in the middle of Yellowstone National Park! I love taking spontaneous trips and going to various events, which brings me to the reason you are reading this…

I know how hard it can be sometimes to get away from work and just enjoy the moment you’re in and the place you’re at. I know when I do something, I dedicate myself fully. I will pour all of my efforts and energy into whatever it may be at the time. I know how easy it can be to burn yourself out if you don’t have a balance between play and work. This is why it is so important to be able to get out and be able to do something new when you can! To help you with that I have gathered a list of events that are happening in our local area throughout the month of February!

For those of you who enjoy seeing theatricals I know there has been a lot of talk about The Book of Mormon, showing at the Pioneer Center February 9th. If you haven’t already bought tickets you’ll need to start scouting because all the tickets are SOLD OUT! But that’s okay, there is another great theatrical playing at the El Dorado, Footloose! Footloose started playing on January 19th and will continue playing until April 17th.

Next, there are fine wines! For all you wine lovers out there, how about heading downtown to the Reno Wine Walk on February 20th from 2-5 PM. This event takes every month on the 3rd Saturday of the month. Proceeds will benefit Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation, a nonprofit organization that works to enhance the lives of all of us living in the beautiful Truckee Meadows. (I would say that’s a great reason for wine any day!) And another wine option, you and your sweetheart or girls night out, you could head out to Truckee to the Truckee River Winery for a wine and chocolate pairing tasting starting at noon on Valentine’s Day!

Calling all runners! So the is a few months away (June 18th) but now is the time to register with their early registration pricing of $109 (ending January 30 or once 1500 runners are registered, whichever comes first) A great start on your New Year resolution conditioning! If marathon running isn’t your thing, how about a simple Health and Wellness day in South Reno at Flex Appeal Gym? Their Health and Wellness day takes place the last Saturday of every month and features fitness and nutrition experts, chair massages, chiropractic adjustments, and even FREE samples!

The amazing Eleanor Roosevelt once said The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience. I hold this quote so dearly to myself as I believe one can be the most successful by finding the appropriate balance between work and enjoyment in life. So YPN members what events are you going to be attending this month? What events can we get a small interested group to go enjoy?

Until next time YPN!

Sincerely, Madison Brown
